One of the most powerful tools for personal finance is one that is often overlooked, the budget. Setting up a budget can help you achieve wealth as well as avoid many dangerous financial pitfalls such as; overspending, bounced checks and accruing large amounts of credit card debt.
Q: I always seem to run out of money and I still have bills left
to pay, what should I do?
A: Start by printing out our budget worksheet. Fill the sheet in
accordingly, try to do this without looking at your monthly
bills. After you have filled in the budget sheet you should track
your spending for one month. That means save every receipt,
note every penny you spend and what you spent it on. After
you have tracked your spending, take a look at where your
money is going.
Now go back to the budget worksheet and fill it in using your
statements to guide you. List all of your expenses and your
monthly income (after taxes). You need to figure out where
you are spending your money. Paying your bills and having
money to live on should be your goal.
Add up all of your expenses and deduct that number from your
total monthly income. If you are coming out with a negative
number you will need to start looking for expenses that can be
cut out of your budget.
Q: Where can I find your SafeGuard Monthly Budget to print out?
